THT Partners With THAF on Hospital Improvement Innovation Network Initiative

The Texas Healthcare Trustees is partnering with the Texas Hospital Association Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) of the American Hospital Association to support their work in reducing preventable hospital-acquired conditions and readmissions. HRET is one of 16 national, regional or state organizations to receive a Hospital Improvement Innovation Network contract from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. THA is leading Texas hospitals in the initiative.

Through September 23, 2018, the HIINs will work to achieve a 20 percent decrease in overall patient harm and a 12 percent reduction in 30-day hospital readmissions as a population-based measure (readmissions per 1,000 people) from the 2014 baseline. The HIINs will engage and support the hospital, provider and broader caregiver communities to implement and spread well-tested, evidence-based best practices.

THT will support THAF and HRET through specialized education and development of health care governance resources focused on trustees’ crucial role in prioritizing quality and patient safety in the organizations they govern.
